About Us

At Stop 9 we believe that building close relationships with other Christians is key to having a fulfilling walk with God. With that in mind we offer many opportunities for everyone to grow in their faith.

Each member is an individual. We do not have any formal creed, catechism, or book of rules. We believe the Bible is to be our guide and most of our members hold the following beliefs:

1.   The Bible is the inspired, infallible word of God.
    (2 TIMOTHY 3:16)

2.   Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, offered Himself as the sacrifice for our sins on the cross, died and was buried. He arose from the dead three days later to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will one day return. He is serving now as the head of the church.(MATTHEW 1:21-23; ISAIAH 9:6; JOHN 1:1-5; HEBREWS 4:14-15; I CORINTHIANS 15:3-4; ROMANS 1:3-4; I TIMOTHY 6:14-15; TITUS 2:13; EPHESIANS    1:22-23)

3.   The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity (MATTHEW 28:19, “Father, Son and Holy Spirit”). He moved men to write the Bible, is given to every Christian as a seal of God’s ownership, and is a strength to the Christian’s inner man. (2 PETER 1:21; EPHESIANS 1:13-14; 3:16)

4.   One becomes a Christian by faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. This leads one to repent of their sins, confess their faith in Jesus, and to be baptized for the forgiveness of their sins. It is at this point that the blood of Jesus washes our sins away. Our salvation is totally a matter of God’s grace and something we cannot in any way earn. (MARK 16:15-16; ACTS 2:38-39; ROMANS 6:3-4; EPHESIANS 2:8-9)

5.   We believe that God wants all Christians to be one and that division and splits are not what God intended. (I COR. 1:10-15; JOHN 17 20-21; EPHESIANS 4:3-6)

6.   We take communion every Sunday in memory of Jesus because we believe this was the practice of the early church. (ACTS 20:6-7)

7.   We believe in baptism by immersion for believers to receive the forgiveness of their sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. (ACTS 2:38; I PETER 3:20-21; ACTS 8:36-39)

8.   We believe in the Lordship of Jesus. He is to be honored in all that we do and say. (PHILIPPIANS 2:5-11; 2 CORINTHIANS 4:5)

9.   We believe the church is to be organized with Elders, Deacons, and Ministers serving as its leaders and that every member is to be involved in its ministry.(I TIMOTHY 3:1-12; TITUS 1:5-9; PHILIPPIANS 1:1)

10. We believe people were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. ( JOHN 3:16; ROMANS 6:23; REVELATION 20:15; 2 CORINTHIANS 12:24; MATTHEW 25:46)
